Hello again everyone, well the weather has certainly changed! Everyone has gone from summer clothes back to wearing jumpers and coats again for those limited trips out. As I sit and look out of my kitchen window the sky is blue again after being full of rain clouds this morning, it makes me realise that just like the weather changes so will the current situation. Just like the picture with this blog, we need to try and find different ways to cope with the current situation.
Please do check the class pages, the SEND ones and the Coronavirus page for ideas and suggestions. We are very aware that many of you will only be able to access this website via a mobile phone, if this is all you can do then that is fine; you will have heard of all sorts of schemes nationally and we are looking into them but they are very limited in what they can do. As yet I have not heard anything from the appeal in last week's Lancashire Evening Post but we still hope!
We do get lots of emails into school with different suggestions to support learning - this is a good time to try and look at things that can support the learning that takes place in school and to look at things that are simply interesting in their own right! Do have a look at the following:
Online home learning resources created by Ribble Rivers Trust, which can be used by schools or individuals. Every week we have a variety of resources being shared on our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram feeds, which are a fantastic way of bringing nature into people’s homes while we cannot go out and explore as much as we’d like to. There are lots of fun factfiles to look out for, including Tree Tuesday, Wildlife Wednesday and Floral Friday!
As well as going out on social media, we have also uploaded resources to our website, which is updated weekly with each new topic: https://ribblelifetogether.org/homelearning/.
Today there has been further speculation in the news about schools re-opening; all we know for certain is that there is a commitment to doing this on a phased basis. We are considering different ways this could work but like you we wait for further details before we make any decisions.
Finally, it would be lovely to find out what you are doing at home - I know some people have already contacted their teachers to let them know what they have done. If you have any pictures or suggestions of things that you have done that you would like to share on our website, please send them either to your class teacher via Dojo or email them to me via head@st-matthewscofe.lancs.sch.uk and we will get them uploaded.
As always, stay safe, keep washing those hands and may God bless you all.
